Update.....

Hello everyone
Sorry there have been no postings for a while but things here have been busy, busy, busy.........

So, whats been happening since you were last updated? Well, most of our time has been taken up with production and hectic rehearsals. Are you fed up with the singing in your house yet? If not, your child needs to practise more!!!!! Seriously though, we're getting there and by the time you get to see us it'll be fantastic. Watch out West End Productions - we may be out for your awards this year.
A big THANK YOU to all of you who have supported us with costumes and offers of help. Without the vital support of family and friends these productions would not be possible.

Monday 22 June - our long awaited trip to Stubbers. Everyone had a great day, (staff included), and the sun shone for us. What more could we ask for?
The children got the opportunity to do Rock Climbing, Archery, Abseiling and some fun Team Games. As usual, the children were great ambassadors for the school and did us and you proud.

Also, we can't go without mentioning Sports Day. Not only did Year Six participate in the afternoon, they also helped out with the Lower School Sports Day and did a fantastic job. I'm sure when you got them home they were worn out with all the activity - I know the staff were!!

This year seems to have gone so quickly, with less than four weeks until the end of term. Where has all that time gone? The children have worked so hard this year for their SAT's and are now continuing to do so for the production. However we hope that their last few weeks at St. Bedes will be remembered as fun and with fond memories.

SAT's are over, half term is here and even more good news...... The school has won a prize for 'The Best Spanish School'. Mrs Waibokeze entered us for the competition and this week we had a visitor, from The Spanish Embassy, to judge our school. Needless to say, she was very impressed.

On Wednesday the upper school had a special treat. A show, by actors from the Kenneth More Theatre, Ilford. It was presented in the style of a Pantomime and the children had a fantastic time. It was also very informative, teaching the children about the history and different aspects of the theatre. The second half of the show, the actors took questions from the children and there was some dressing up too! (See photographs).

A big thank you to parents and family for supporting our 'after SAT's' party with your generous donations. Once again the children had a great, (and well deserved), time. Hopefully for those family members who were able to attend at the end, you also had a good time. We had quite a few goodies left, so the children have been enjoying some of those this week. We have also put some aside for our End of Term party. So once again, thankyou. Don't forget to look at the photos!!

As this Blog is being written, the classroom is filled with the sound of I Will Survive. Yes, practice is well under way for our production. So don't forget to practise in the holidays 6T and 6H!!!! We have also had a Rap Competition this week. Some fantastic entries and some really talented children. Everyone should be proud of themselves.

So all in all, quite a packed week this week. Well everybody, have a great holiday. See you all on your return and DON'T FORGET to sing, sing,sing................

Latest Update

Hello everyone SAT's are almost upon us and I can hear the sighs of relief! The children are working very hard, however we have had a few fun times in the last couple of weeks. Last week we had our trip to The Science Museum - what a great day! The children really enjoyed the 'Launch Pad' area which was full of interesting and fun things. However, another big favourite was the tutorial on explosions! (I do hope none of you have had your kitchens destroyed by the exploding flour experiment!). Whilst we are talking of the trip, I would like to extend my thanks, once again, to the parents who came along and helped on the trip. Without their support the day would not have been possible.

This week we have been visited by StarSnappers. This company is a non profit making organisation and they are hoping to break The Guiness Book of Records title for the most photographs in an exhibition. So far they have more than 60,000 photographs. In preparation for the photographers visit, the children had the opportunity to make masks. These were worn in some of their pictures. It was a lovely experience for the children and the pictures were beautiful. (I believe that in the next few weeks you will get the chance to view your childs pictures via a small proof sheet). I'm sure your child will have filled you in on their experience, but please take time to look at the attached photo's and they can explain to you what is happening and the opportunities they were given.

Is your house filled with the sound of Singing? Hopefully it is! The preparations for the year 6 production have commenced and it's something we're all looking forward to. Please encourage your child to sing by joining in with them - there's some real classics in there!!

Happy Easter

Hello once again everyone

Just two more days and the Easter break will be upon us. Where has this year gone? April 1st already, (and hopefully not too many of you were caught out with practical jokes today!).

We've had lots going on today. Firstly some of the year 6 children took part in the Redbridge Mini games. Quite a few came back with medals and as usual the children were great ambassadors for the school. It was also the day of our Talent Show where the children, for a fee of 20p, could watch the show and cheer on their favourite act. All entrants to the show were fantastic and a great time was had by all. Last but not least, as you can see from the pictures, we had a visit from the Easter Bunny and every child received an egg.

Tomorrow is our Easter Bonnet competition and on Friday we will have our Easter Mass.

The children have worked very hard this term and we know they are really looking forward to a well earned holiday. So, it just leaves us to say to you all, we here in KS2, hope you have a lovely break and that you are able to re-charge those batteies and come back to us raring to go, (again!!).

Hello everyone

Thank you for taking time from your busy schedule to visit our Blog.

Today we have some pictures of our visit to Hargreaves, when the class attended a 'Yound Citizens' morning. The day is organised by the Metropolitan Police in conjunction with various other organisations and it helps to prepare the children for their transition in to secondary school. It teaches them many aspects of safety and the correct way to react in different situations. Amongst some of the things covered were: First Aid, Cycling safety, Internet safety, robbery and safe travelling. If your child hasn't shared the day with you, why not look at the pictures together and ask them to tell you more.

We have continued to work hard this week. Lots of Mental Maths and in Literacy we have been working on explanation texts. Music was great fun this week and the class produced some great music. As for Science, why not test your child and ask them to tell you the names of the teeth. Also test their memory and ask them to tell you about MRS NERG!

We had a very succesful cake sale day today and years 5 and 2 received a great boost to their class fund.

Next week, courtesy of the PA, the Easter Bunny is coming to visit and each child will receive a Cream Egg. Also, on Thursday it is the Easter Bonnet Competition and there is a prize for each class. So come on everyone, get crafting.

Well once again, we hope you have a great week end and we'll see all class 6T back in on Monday for our last week of term.

Hello everyone.
Still very busy here in class, with everybody working extra hard.

Today we have had Silly Colour day, where the children were able to replace one piece of clothing for one of black. The monies raised from these days go towards treats for the children at the end of year. So the more support we get - the bigger the treat. (All monies stay with the class that raised it).

We'd like to take this opportunity to say to everyone Happy Mothers Day - we hope you all get a well deserved rest!

Also a big thank you to you all for your speedy response to the 'Stubbers' letter. You will be advised in due course of whether we are able to go ahead with this. We will also be informing you of other proposed trips and fun days in the not too distant future.

Once again, we hope you have a fantastic weekend and we'll be back soon with more updates and photo's of what your children have been up to.

Second week of Term - Gone already!!

Once again, time is flying by and we have just seen the second week of this half term pass us by. Not only have the children been working hard with their Maths, Literacy and Science we have also been rehearsing for our Assembly.

Hopefully, you were all lucky enough to see the assembly and enjoyed it. It is also quite a sad occassion, as it will be the class' last assembly at St. Bedes. (Although we do have the production to look forward to).

On Thursday we celebrated World Book Day. The children had the opportunity to enter competitions and to write short stories.

Finally, I must end with an apology as on our last post you were promised pictures of some of our activities. Unfortunately, there were problems with loading some of these and they did not appear. We are trying to sort this out and once the problem is resolved we will try to reload them. We hope you were not too disappointed.
