Mid-week update

This week we are celebrating 'Healthy Eating Week'. On Monday we had a visitor from the Borough to talk to children about healthy foods and how they can make their packed lunches healthy. We have continued this theme in the classroom and encouraged the children to think about their lunches and what, if anything, they could change. Also we have been discussing what our body needs to be healthy. Hopefully your children will come home and discuss their lunch ideas with you and we thank you for your support with this.

Tomorrow, we are holding a Comedy Competition. Children were invited to audition, last week and they will showcase their talent tomorrow. We have four children entering from 6T. Two boys and two girls. This is another initiative thought up by the Children of St. Bedes. All monies raised will go to buy new playground equipment.

6T School Assembly

Hello again everyone.

Sorry we've not updated you for a while but it's been a very busy week.

This week has been anti-bullying week and to support this, on Friday, the children were asked to wear a white top. This supported our slogan of 'Wear White - Don't Fight'. We also, in PSCHE, talked about 'Being Different - Belonging Together'. The class had very strong and effective views on bullying. This made for a very interesting debate.

Also in school this week, the School Council organised a talent show. There were lots of children who auditioned and the Council Members had a tough job dwindling the numbers down. (Where is Simon Cowell when you need him?). The final was held today in the playground and it was a great show. In fact it was such a hit we are hoping to do this on a more regular basis so that more children can participate.

In Science this week we have been conducting experiments to seperate solids and liquids. We have lots of petri dishes around the classrom, which the class are checking regularly. Ask your child what it is they are waiting to see and what outcomes they are hoping for.

Below, as you will see, is the long awaited pictures of last week's assembly. Unfortunately, they are a little bit dark but hopefully that does not spoil it for you.

Don't forget - pass on our Blog Address to your family and friends, so that they may too enjoy our updates and pictures.

6T Assembly 14 November 2008

As a class we are congratulating ourselves on a job well done on Friday. We have had some great comments on our assembly and are feeling very proud of ourselves. (It was also great practise for our end of year production!).

Thank you to those of you who were able to come and watch and support us. We had a great turn out. For those who missed out, as promised, here are some photo's and a short video of our fantastic singing. (Please share our Blog Address with family and friends so that they may join in our celebrations too).

Hello Everyone.
Here we are again at the end of another week. The time is just flying by.
This week, in Science, we have been looking at separating solids and liquids through the process of evaporation. The children have started planning their investigations and will be carrying them out next week. So look out for the photos!

In Literacy we have been studying biographies and autobiographies. 6T have all started to write their autobiographies, so we have found out some very interesting things!

And of course we can't go without mentioning the class assembly. It is our turn this week to present the Friday Assembly. The topic for our assembly was 'Invitations'. This is in connection with our last R.E. topic. As usual, the children have all worked hard to learn their parts, so we hope you enjoyed it. Again, we will be posting pictures next week, so don't forget to pass on our Blog Address to family and friends who did not get the opportunity to come and see it.

Keep logging in for our weekly updates.

R.E. Pictures

Here are some pictures from our R.E. Lesson.

The foods we tasted represented foods you might find on a Sedar Plate.

Take a look at our T-shirt Competition............

I'm sure you'll agree - great designs by everyone.

Welcome

Hello and welcome to 6T's Blog.

At last we are up and running and able to share some of the things we have been up to in the last few weeks. It's early days yet but as the weeks go on we will be adding lots more!

So WELCOME to our Blog - we hope you find it interesting.

Before the half Term we celebrated Black History Month. As part of our celebrations the whole school decorated T-shirts. Our theme was Carnival. We all got to wear our T-shirts for a day and in 6T we held a competition and voted for the best design.

In R.E. we are looking at Judaism and this week we have been learning aout Passover. We all got to taste food which represented foods you might find on a Seder plate.

Our Science topic has been Micro-Organisms. We have grown bacteria on bread and recorded our findings and this week we collected leaves, from various areas of the playground, and studied the different states of decay.

We will shortly be putting our photographs on the blog so you can see us at work. So look out for those!!!
